Chinese Art Auction
Welcome to the first project of the “Art without Boundaries Project – Yi Shu Wu Ya Gong Cheng”. From September 21 – 27, 2012 we will be hosting a group of artists from the Henan Province of China at the International Arts Gallery in downtown Vancouver. This will include an art auction on Wednesday, September 26. All proceeds will go to covering the costs of bringing the artists over and contributing to the Global Civic Policy Society.
In 2008 as part of my duties as Mayor of Vancouver I attended the Beijing Olympic and Paralympic Games. When I was there I met several people involved in supporting artists of China. This contact ultimately led the Global Civic Policy Society to support the visit of five artists to Vancouver. Thanks to the support of the International Arts Gallery we will be showing a number of pieces of art and auctioning some of them. We will also be celebrating the tour by a group from the Vancouver Art Gallery to Shanghai and Beijing beginning on September 28. All of these initiatives help bring together art patrons from the English-speaking and Chinese speaking communities.
Please take a look at the art below and if you would like to participate in the auction and support this initiative we would be very grateful.
