Vancouver Urban Forum

On Wednesday June 6, 2012 the Vancouver Urban Forum took place at the Vancouver Playhouse Theatre to consider the theme “achieving urban densification” and ideas that might comprise a fourth wave of urban reform. Canada has had three waves of urban reform since its founding and a new wave is needed to address the great challenges faced by our cities. There were 300 attendees with some coming from as far away as Australia and Albania as well as municipal leaders from across Canada. Many of the presentations at the Vancouver Urban Forum were covered by the media and the Twitterverse and the organizers feel that they made a contribution to greater citizen engagement in urban issues.

The Vancouver Urban Forum was hosted by the Global Civic Policy Society and its Centre for Fourth Wave Urban Reform and conceived of and directed by Sam Sullivan former Mayor of Vancouver and current Adjunct Professor in the School of Architecture and Landscape Architecture at the University of British Columbia.
