Kumtuks means “knowledge” in Chinook Wawa.
The Kumtuks Project mines British Columbia history to explore new narratives and reclaim old ones for an increasingly diverse citizenry. Kumtuks is based in British Columbia, and features videos and articles that educate the public about history, public policy, and general knowledge.
The initiative seeks to honour the multicultural, secular and environmentally responsible ethic that was part of the pre-colonial governance of proto-British Columbia.
The Kumtuks Project tells the story of a healthy, prosperous and inclusive society and seeks to identify ways to honour that legacy through policies that harness the power of free markets.
Sam Sullivan is a Member of the Order of Canada, a former Mayor of Vancouver and Member of the Legislative Assembly of British Columbia.
